Where We Fit
Governments and international bodies such as the UN, IMF and World Bank provide massive financial aid to the ‘third world’. This aid may be burdened by political agendas. Charities and other NGO’s serve another role, providing food, shelter, and health care. While emergency and relief efforts are important, they address the fallout of a problem. Rarely can they eliminate the cause. Regulatory and other restrictions on charities may also prevent them from supporting small scale or activist efforts. The unfilled gap is where we can step in – supporting grass roots efforts for change from within. Supporting “microdevelopment”.
Democratic Republic of Congo
The Congo is our first site of contribution. The need for leadership in creating solutions to the prevailing conflict in eastern Congo is among the greatest in the world. An end to the brutalization of those living in the region, particularly women and girls, is paramount. Click the Why Congo button for more.
